The sweetest thing happened at school today.. Yesterday I noticed a little girl had a similar scar on her chest like I have. Today I asked the teacher I was observing if this student had open heart surgery like me.. It turned out she did! Ms. S called the student over to share that we both had open heart surgery.. I noticed the little girl was a bit self conscious of her scar like I was as a little girl, so I reassured her theres nothing to be embarrassed about. Our scars makes us who we are, beautiful strong girls.. The little girl had the biggest smile on her face. After her test she came to share with me that theres a camp for kids who have had open heart surgery. She begged me to be a counselor there because she will be a camper this summer.. Something to think about. Needless to say, this whole month and a half of observing classrooms has been a fabulous experience. It really reinforced my decision to pursue teaching.. Im now one step closer to having my own classroom and I couldnt be anymore excited!!!
