97th movie of 2014: MARVELS THE AVENGERS (Josh Wheedon) - 2nd viewing impressions more or less match 1st viewing impressions, though lowered expectations always help with junk like this. Liked the actors, who are all charming; thought there were some funny lines; wish they had cared more about the action; wish they had cared more about anything approaching a genuine visual style; still think that the fanboy bait Agent Colson character/subplot is gross and representative of the most decadent, heads-up-their-own-asses aspects of nerd culture. This is one of those movies that is so much about nothing except itself that by the end I really missed some kind of labored, pulpy political allegory -- missed ANYTHING that might suggest some kind of connection to something approaching human interest.
