987 (Income tax) What to do if tax credit statement 26 AS shows unknown deductor and credit? Video Link - https://youtube/watch?v=yL5fS_30Uu8 Narration - By Amlan Dutta So , it is that time of the year ..You sit to file your tax return deciding to take credit of all taxes deducted as TDS and everything that you have paid as advance and self assessment tax So , you just casually take a print of the tax credit statement to see the credit available for available TDS and income taxes paid Lo Behold ! You see a deductor you dunno ....extramarital affair , etc etc no it cant be that bad ...your mind goes back to memory lane ----did you cheat on someone ...why has god done this to you ? Did you fast properly on navratri ? I dunno what all silly reasons you can concieve ...but this happens when some deductor has mapped your pan wrongly while filing their TDS return ...so instead of the eligible tax payer having such tax credit apply to his PAN , it gets applied to yours ! The reason may be a PAN which is similar but nevertheless it is different ! We see a example where i am not connected with a indian company but the tax credit shows that i got salary income and TDS has been deducted against my PAN ! I later understand that it was meant for their employee but the account officer has made a mistake and mapped it to my pan in the tds return ! Now what , lol! I need to ensure that i take up the matter with the deductor ( is the company in this case , could be bank in your case etc etc ---so figure out who is the deductor with which you have najayas sambandh and then take corrective action ) Best is when this all happens , keep the assessing officer a copy so that everyone is aware of the culprit( account officer) Keeping the assessing officer a a copy will ensure that the account officer will immediately file a revised TDS return mapping correct PAN so that taxpayer who is due for TDS credit sees the same in his 26 AS and it moves away from where it should not have appeared in the first place ! In the income tax season someone had this problem ! I had some time today so i made this tutorial Hope this helps ---love you all ---Hugs from Good boy - Amlan Dutta
