A BIG step forward Dear Friends, National estimates say 1 in 10 Indians suffer from some degree of CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). In India, 5-7% of stage 5 CKD patients will require life-long dialysis and that is a very big number. Northwest has identified this need and has been supporting the cause for 3 years now. Now, With great pleasure I would like to inform you that our Live Life Renal Care Centre is about to take a big step forward. The existing centre has 3 dialysis machines and has so far completed 5,150 dialysis. Seven more machines are going to be added to this existing centre. The centre now functioning at the the third floor of the main hospital building at SISH is going to be shifted to an exclusive stand alone block. Work is fast progressing and soon the centre will start functioning with 10 stations, second to the GH (in the non-corporate sector) How was this BIG step possible ? This Northwesterner, convinced by the cause and requirement made me prepare a comprehensive report and appeal. A presentation was also made in association with the Hospital. She made sure that all went well and the centre got the assistance. Though the project was approved long back there was a procedural delay in getting Government approvals and finally it has happened. A donation of Rs.59.35 Lakhs has been received today. Thanks a ton to Charu, it was her relentless effort that has made this happen. Thanks Temasak, Singapore for the donation.
