A Black woman posted on a friends page yesterday, Indigenous Man, that it hurt sisters to see a brother with dreads having a white woman on his arm. Well sisters, dont be hurt. Thats not on you, thats on him. When it comes to love between two people, I truly believe that race does not matter. And preferences? Everyone has their preferences. So I wont knock that either. However, a brother can not use preference as an excuse because Black women comes in a variety of flavors. If he think Black women are too loud, too aggressive, and too unattractive, looking too Afroid, he should consider how history forced her to be that way. To me, he is exhibiting self-hatred and hoping the white woman will help him forget or erase the nations despise of him.,no matter how he attempts to explains it off. Im scared of those kinds of brothers on jobs. On a personal note, I see nothing wrong with people dating whomever they want to, as long as they dont put their own people down or try to elevate themselves in the eyes of society by dating outside his or her race. Particularly Black people. Every Black family I know have white women in them and we love them as valuable family members. But, I think until our economical situation has dramatically improved, we would do best by building up our community first, keep our increases within it and become become more independant and more self sufficient. As a people, we are barely surviving on a respirator. I foresee for us a future that will not need our contributions or to embrace our culture because it, too, is quickly fading away. And now to the sisters; Sisters, sisters, your brothers are calling. Throughout the hurt you have stayed at our sides. Yet, somehow still, we are emotionally separated from us, O help us sisters to be men again. For it is not your lot to be both man and woman (Gary Houston, 1994). Have a great day, all!
