A Brief Overview for Those Just Learning about Reiki Welcome!! Im so glad youre here to learn about Reiki :) This is a brief overview designed for those who are just hearing about Reiki and would like more information. The posts on my page go into more detail on specific topics. The two main benefits of Reiki are stress relief and relaxation which also reduces pain and triggers the bodys own natural healing abilites. It is a complementary technique and works hand in hand with all other healing modalities including traditional medical treatment. Reiki is not harmful...it always works for the highest good of the person or situation. Reiki is spiritual, but it is not religious. Reiki works on all levels to balance the system and unite body, mind, soul and spirit. It helps keep the body in balance to prevent illness and is also used to treat chronic illness and disease (not to be substituted for medical care). Reiki is already used in many cancer centers and hopsitals across the country as a complementary treatment. My hope is to be instrumental in introducing Reiki to the oncology centers here in Tennessee. Although reading about Reiki and learning the techniques are helpful, it takes an attunement by a qualified Reiki Master/Teacher to practice Reiki. Once you are attuned to Reiki, you have it for life. The classes vary depending on your teacher and the area, but each class is usually completed in one day. You are attuned to Reiki at the class and are able to use it immediately. There are three levels of Reiki: * Reiki Level I class concentrates on self healing and enables one to give Reiki nonprofessionally to friends, family, pets, your medicine, the environment, etc. No previous experience necessary. Again, it would depend on your area and the teacher, but a Reiki I class usually costs between $100-$150. *Reiki Level II enables one to send distant healing and also to treat on the emotional level. The cost varies depending on your Reiki Master, but a Reiki II class is usually $150-$200. *Reiki Level III Class is usually divided into two classes, Advanced Reiki and Master Practitioner/Teacher. In Reiki III the student receives the Master symbols and learns advanced healing techniques. You also learn how to teach others and pass on attunements. The cost depends on your Reiki Master/Teacher, but in the neighborhood of $250-$300 for each of the two level III class. If you decide to take a class, I would encourage you to attend in person rather than an online class. Also find a class that is small (under 10 people). A Reiki Master that offers ongoing support is also important. Review the websites of the Reiki Master/Teacher or any other material that is offered, talk to them and go with your best instinct in choosing a Reiki Master/Teacher that is right for you. I really believe in the benefits of Reiki. It helped me through a most difficult time in my life...grief recovery from the loss of my fiance in 2009. I hope this helps answer some of the questions you may have about the basics of Reiki. If you havent tried a Reiki session yet, try it and see what you think :) Your questions are always welcome!
