A.C Roxanne 3 - 7 Latchmere FC (HT 1-3) Monday Night League (Premier Division) Todays featured game at Goals Wimbledon was a top of the Premier League affair involving A.C Roxanne and Latchmere FC. With Latchmere FC currently lying 2nd and A.C Roxanne only 2 points below them in 3rd, this game was considered by many to rival the likes of “El Classico” and “the Merseyside Derby”. This is how the teams lined up: A.C Roxanne: Matt (GK) Sayumg Oz Charlie Kieran Latchmere FC: Pepe (GK) Tom Kevin Marvin David With both teams looking to take all 3 points, a high scoring game was predicted by many coming into the clash. We didn’t get one. With A.C Roxanne allowing some of their youth candidates the chance for some game time, Latchmere decided that they had the quality to name a largely unchanged line-up. The game started strongly with Latchmere taking an early lead thanks to some slick passing on the edge of the opposition box. Latchmere’s side were incredibly well organised, possibly as a result of their new strict training regime (Pub AFTER the game, not before!) and they frustrated Roxanne with their tight defensive unit and quick counterattacking. Both teams created chances in the first half, but thanks to some inspirational goal keeping from both keepers, the score was only 1-3 to Latchmere at half time, all 3 goals coming late into injury time. After the inspirational half time team talks had concluded, both teams went about their business in a similar fashion to the first half. However at 3-1 down A.C Roxanne compounded their misery by being reduced to only 4 men, a sin bin for abusing the referee. With only 4 on the pitch, A.C Roxanne played better than they had all first half, bringing the score back to 4-2. However a late flurry of goals from the lethal frontmen of Latchmere brought the final score to 7-3. The performance of Latchmere in particular will almost certainly be brought to the attention of Mourinho, Moyes, and Wenger to name but a few, with Arsenal reportedly preparing a £45 million bid for the entire team! Luke’s Lowdown: A lethal display from Latchmere FC, who easily dispatched A.C Roxanne. Having all of their team in lethal scoring form will do nothing to dent their already realistic hopes of challenging for the title, and if they can maintain their good run of form I see no reason why they can’t challenge for the top spot. As for A.C Roxanne, I fully expect them to be challenging for a top 3 finish come the end of the season, they were undone by a very good side and should easily be able to take the positives away from this game. Best to keep the chat to the referee at a minimum though!
