A Call to Missouri for Nominations! Each year the National Restaurant Association recognizes a select few of Americas restaurants that have gone above and beyond in service to the communities in which they operate. The award was initiated through the joint efforts of NRA and the awards founding partner, American Express. MRA encourages its member restaurants to speak up and tell the stories of their involvement in the community. This link will take you to the NRA website where an application form can be accessed for completion. You will also be able to review tips for completing an effective application and more information regarding the Restaurant Neighbor Award. Apply Here Recent recipients of the award include the following MRA members. Mike and Pam Ginsberg, owners of Lula Belles Restaurant in Hannibal, who assembled an army of dedicated volunteers to prepare and deliver a Christmas dinner to more than 500 people in their community. In addition, they opened their restaurant to any resident desiring to enjoy Christmas dinner in the fellowship of a group. Bob and Bill Greene of Springfield, who provide a convenient benefit for countless worthwhile causes through their Pancake Ministry. The brothers, owners of Village Inn Restaurants, offers a turnkey event, providing pancake batter, sausage, butter, a flattop grill, beverages, promotional posters, personalized tickets, and all the labor. The ministry conducts an average of three events per month. Jimm Swofford and his staff at Jimms Steakhouse in Springfield, who, in partnership with DoubleTree Hotel, provide a sit-down prime rib dinner in the hotels ballroom for as many as can attend from the citys homeless shelters.
