A Change in Evolutionist Thinking? While creationists have claimed that commonly-held genes in many different kinds of creatures is evidence of a common designer, evolutionists have held this is evidence of descent from a common ancestor. Now some evolutionists may be revising their ideas. A recent article in Astrobiology (March 3, 2013) suggests this common ancestor, called the last universal common ancestor or LUCA, may be “just a fantasy.” Instead, evolutionist Nigel Goldenfeld from the U. of Illinois, is exploring the possibility life might have emerged from “a collective state.” In other words, neighboring organisms may have “shared genetic information” rather than the information spreading solely from parent to offspring.” Source: Creation (October-December, 2013)
