A Christmas tale: Growing up, I ALWAYS received an excessive amount of gifts for Christmas day. Yet, I cant remember most of the gifts I received. What I can recall are the memories with my family. The laughter, food and bonding spent. As I got older and start experiencing life, I knew what I wanted to give my children. As a woman, a mother and now a wife, I knew the values in memories and the time spent in making them. Christmas is not a day in celebration. Most say its Jesus birthday. I watch people flock to go take pictures with Santa, spend rent money and bill money and borrow money to get useless gifts for their children, family and friends. My children have been raised slightly different. Humbled and genuinely knowledgeable, they know the history of Christmas. They are aware that Christmas is about family and the memories made with them. They appreciate every detail of a gift and never take advantage of the kind heart who gifted them. I raised them to understand the bake in life. And yes, they got a tree (artificial), and a gift but yesterday they made the memories of family. Yesterday was full of joy, laughs, games, dancing, kids, food and family. Yes, gifts were exchanged but they were gifts to share, gifts of memories that held value and would last forever. But the biggest gift was seeing the joy on all our faces because we all had one another. Thank you mom for everything. No matter what, every year you make the family gathering happen. Aside from the arguing, telling and disagreement, we are family and must make the best of it. I appreciate you. To my sisters, I love you guys so much. With age, we now understand each other lol! To my brother, youre such a great guy dude. So loving and attentive. And the kids, what a joy! I really enjoyed you guys last night. To my children and husband, no life worth living would exist without you. You guys are my heartbeat. To my granny, thank you always. No words needed to express the joys in having you. To my aunties, uncles, cousins, and extended family, happy holidays.
