A Declaration of War I couldnt sleep last night. The image of a fellow war correspondent having his head cut off by barbarians in Iraq/Syria was more than I could bear. Thinking of all those days and weeks spent in that bloody region, the first thought is inevitably, there but for fortune... The next thought is rage. They are killing Christians and they are raping non-Sunni women they capture. The ISIS animals in Iraq decapitated James Foley. They threaten to do the same to another American captive Joel Sotloff of Time magazine. And then, most tellingly, they threaten to drown all Americans in blood, if President Obama doesnt stop our belated bombing of ISIS in Iraq. The tauntingly savage murder on tape of 40-year old James Foley is a horrifying scene that echoes the torture murder of Daniel Pearl in Pakistan. Like Al Qaedas murder of Danny Pearl. Indeed, like Pearl Harbor, and the attack on the Trade Center and the Pentagon, this is a declaration of war. ISIS has declared war on the United States and on every American. President Obama must shed his reluctance to engage these gruesome low-lives. Hit them in Iraq. Hit them in Syria. Hit them wherever we can find them. They have murdered a piece of every one of us. This outrageous crime can not stand unanswered.
