A Disabled vet, anout the empty chair in the wh. I am a disabled USMC veteran that almost exactly matches Shultzs description of the vet supposdly worried about his disability retirement pay coming in... In my case, Im paralyzed from the armpits down, (thanks to my DIs lying to me about Marines being bullet proof, or maybe it was a kryptonite bullet, but whichever,) and had my left half of my pelvis taken out and my left leg amputated, (thanks to six years of government health care negligence of what started as a simple stage 2 bedsore that ended up with life threatening bone infections.) Guess what, Shultzy... We receive our disability retirement pension checks ONCE A MONTH on the 1st of each month. Wed already received our pay for the entire month of October when you were claiming some double amputee was worried about his next check. I guess he assumed that we get paid once every two weeks like active duty military, but then again, he doesnt know much about either the military or veterans. Now, why do we like Republicans more than Democrats? Because they dont play the games Democrats do with us. They dont try to send our ballots out late and then try to prevent our votes from being counted, dont buy SOLAR POWERED TOILETS to put into completely windowless bathrooms, (replacing the raised toilets that are needed for many spinal cord injured patients with regular, lower ones in the process,) and then try to claim credit for increasing VA spending, (and no, I am NOT kidding on that stupidity,) and dont play games with our pay. EVERY year, Ive received my COLA increase for the past 33 years EXCEPT for 2010 and 2011, when there was no COLA increase, even though gasoline, electricity, and food prices were going up. Then, in 2012, I magically got a COLA increase again, but the real kicker was that at the start of October, a month before the election, I got an additional $741 from the VA, deposited on the 1st right alongside my regular pension, as though that little bribe would make me forget the prior two years where I was forced to tighten my belt even further because the DEMOCRATS in control of all branches of government decided we vets who have paid a price for our service should just suck up those increased living expenses and cut our budgets elsewhere. It MIGHT be because ONLY under Democrat Presidents have I ever had the VA refuse to replace worn out wheelchairs, (being service connected, Im due three... two regular daily use chairs, {a backup in case one breaks,} and a specialized chair, (in my case one with wide knobby tires on it so I can wont sink into the sand when I got out to play in the desert, but some people choose a racing chair, basketball chair, hand bike chair, etc.) ONLY under Democrats have I had the VA refuse to give me a new chair until after all THREE had broken down and I had to buy my own out of my own pocket, (non-reimbursable, of course.) And I take care of my chairs... each generally lasting me 6 or 7 years of use. It MIGHT be because only under Obama have I had trouble getting my vehicle adaptations so I can drive with hand controls. Hand controls cost $1,000+ per set. Ive always taken out my old ones and transferred them into a new vehicle if possible, so Ive only gotten three sets from the government in 33 years. I got a van at one point and had a lift and modified drivers seat, (that would slide back and rotate so I could transfer into it,) installed with no problems. A couple years ago, I bought a truck, and ended up driving back and forth between the VA hospital, VA admin office downtown and home over 30 times, (25 miles each way,) trying to get a hoist and hand controls installed into the truck. I finally gave up and paid for those out of pocket, (a bit over $1,000 for the hand controls and $4,500 for the wheelchair hoist.) Somehow, I always needed some new form, to resubmit a form Id already submitted, a signature from my doctor this time, from an Occupational Therapist the nest time, a phyiscal therapist a third time, a different form again, resubmit a form again, etc... Why? Because Id bought the truck without getting permission from the VA to buy a truck, (which has NEVER before been an issue.) I still had my original auto grant paperwork, that Ive never used, and this was the first vehicle that none of my existing hand controls would fit in over 12 years, but all I got was the runaround. Maybe, just MAYBE, thats why veterans dont like Democrats. Maybe its that you play games with shutting us out of our memorials, especially the WW2 generation that is rapidly dying off, spending EXTRA money the government supposedly doesnt have to shut them down rather than just leaving them alone? Or it COULD be that Obama decided to play games with the families of the troops killed in combat, claiming there wasnt money enough to fly the families out to meet the coffins of their dead troops at Dover, or enough money to even provide them with a coffin and dig a hole in a veterans cemetery so they could be buried, or screwed with the death benefits for their families who are suddenly burdened with the extra costs involved with the death of their loved one, all while he kept his precious golf course open, allowed a bunch of illegal aliens to hold a protest on the National Mall complete with government security, and kept his personal White House staff of chefs and waiters on pay, (we cant have the President making his own dinner or taking it to the table by himself, after all.) Or MAYBE its because it has been the Democrats in general, and Obama specifically, that sent out a secret warning to the police all over the country to watch out for veterans because were potential terrorists! Or maybe its just because you are the very same asswipes that were calling us baby killers and, in my case, ahd one of you spit on me and sneer that I deserved to be crippled for having joined the military, while you were busy dodging the draft and forcing someone else to be drafted in your place because you were more interested in dropping acid and trying to decypher what the hell Bob Dylan was mumbling while utterly singing completely off key in his songs. Ive got two words for you, Ed... YOURE WELCOME... for the freedoms you are too stupid to even appreciate enough to treat the people who bought it for you with their blood, sweat, tears, health, and lives with even a pretense of respect. Burger flippers, stock boys and checkout ladies at Walmart, and just folks I will see out and about have more class than you do. At least many of them say, Thank you. To my fellow vets... WELCOME HOME! (Sorry for the rant, but this crap just gets on my nerves so badly...)
