A Frenchman was kidnapped in Algeria by some terrorist group whose leader pledged allegiance to AQ or ISIS (not important & we arent going to argue about that now). Whats important is If this Frenchman is slaughtered or beheaded, every Algerian living in France would feel as if he slaughtered or beheaded this guy himself. Every Algerian would make himself so little and hope that no one would notice him. Of course, every Algerian living in France would condemn this kidnapping in the most virulent language to make himself feel a bit better, and distance himself from his own reality. Its a coping mechanism to keep his sanity and reality in check, but overdoing it is a psychological way to fight the feeling of guilt by association. But I would like to tell that Algerian living in France: lift your god damn head up. You got nothing to do with it. Dont feel guilty because you arent. Yes condemn the action, but dont become the victim or the perpetrator. Empathize and sympathize, but know that youve got nothing to do with it. So dont be more king than the king himself
