A Friendly Holiday Hint: when someone tells you that they cant eat wheat or gluten? Dont push the issue. Dont ask them if they can have just a little bit. Dont laugh at them for saying that they cant have it. It is a daily frustration that someone that cant eat wheat has to deal with. They have to ask about practically every food when they dine out. It is even worse when you visit someones house - because youre torn between not being rude, or seen as just a picky eater and wanting to protect your own health. Whether it is allergies, or gluten intolerance, or whatever the case may be that they have? Dont push the issue. I cant eat wheat. Ill never complain about not having options at someones house, EVER, but dont assume that I dont like what youre making because I say I cant eat it. It has wheat in it. (Or oats, barley, or rye) Dont laugh about it, make a joke out of it, or assume that it is because Im on some diet. No. I cant eat wheat. If you push the issue and I finally go in to the medical descriptions of why I cant eat wheat? Dont be upset by how horrible the description is. Read up on Gluten Sensitivity. I had most of those symptoms (all at one point or another) when I still ate gluten. They all but disappeared when I stopped eating gluten. I CAN NOT EAT WHEAT. celiac.org/celiac-disease/non-celiac-gluten-sensitivity/
