A GIRL She floated in the wetness that permeated her every pore, - TopicsExpress

A GIRL She floated in the wetness that permeated her every pore, encased in the dark. She tried to turn but the wet shifted, the darkness convulsed. She was scared but did not know what a word was or how it could convey her feelings. That wetness left, leaving her alone in that shroud of darkness, uncovered by that familiar wet warmth for the first time. Her body tensed when another tremor grabbed her in the darkness. This was new to her. Time had not introduced itself; no, not yet; not in the concept of the mind that measures time in increments of mortality. Time came closer; it watched and waited. Another tremor came from out of that darkness, pushing her towards that light. A convulsion, the largest yet, pushed her out of the darkness and into the light where those waiting hands grabbed her and pulled. He held her upside down by her ankles; she felt pain when a large hand struck her bottom. She screamed and cried for the first time. Large hands washed her; cut the cord and clamped it. “It’s a girl, congratulations.” She looked up at all those strange faces, “Put me back!” She missed her comfort zone, but had to leave it.
