A Gilroy man and a San Jose woman were identified Monday as the victims who died in a crash of a small plane in the hills east of Gilroy. Pilot Jon Richard Dennis, 69, and Kiely Renee Vaca, 18, died when the plane Dennis was piloting crashed Saturday. The victims departed Frazier Lake Airport in Hollister (San Benito County) in a Cessna 140 about 1 p.m. Saturday and were reported missing that evening by a family member of the pilot. The Civil Air Patrol, an auxiliary of the Air Force, combed the area around Gilroy and Hollister until they located the plane’s transmitter. Volunteers with the Santa Clara County sheriff’s search and rescue team assisted in the recovery of the bodies.
