A Gnostic Breakdown of the Genesis Creation Story In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. - Genesis 1:2 There is a lot of deeper meaning to the story of creation in Genesis that isnt remotely known to most of the people who believe in its literal truth, lets explore: The phrase the earth was formless and void refers to the nature of reality before the action of creation. Formless and void is in Hebrew Tohu wa Bohu, and describes the nature of that which the Ruach Elohim hovers over, namely the waters or the deep. Here is something key: the term translated as waters and deep is the Hebrew Tehom, plural Tehomoth, and is a clue to the origin of this story and a key to its interpretation. Tehom is cognate to Akkadian Tiamat who is the personification of the watery Abyss from which the universe is constructed. Now, in the Sumerian original Ea (compare Ea to Yaveh) slays Tiamat and uses the pieces of her body to construct the universe. The Jews were henotheistic at the time of this writing so having a big sea monster precede their God was unacceptable, so they portrayed Tiamat as basically an inanimate substance that Jehovah uses to create. Now, notice how Jehovah creates, the text does not say that God created the universe out of nothing, it clearly says that there were things that existed, just in a state of potential, all things were kind of existing but only in the sense that a piece of rock is potentially a statue until a sculptor comes along and gives it shape. The process is progressive and takes 7 days, not 6, I will get to why 7 and not 6 in a moment. God creates by a process of limiting and separating, first he labels something then he seperates it from other things, this is a nice nonviolent way of describing what is a fundamentally violent process, because what Jehovah is doing here is cutting apart the primal Oneness that is Tiamat and building something that he builds largely to glorify himself. This is why Jehovah should be identified, if we interpret properly, with the lower mundane self that we are each day, we label things, we put things in comfy little boxes and expect them to behave and then get pissed when things dont go as we plan. Because reality wants to return to the Oneness from which it came, it desires Oneness, it tramples boundaries, and when the walls come down between us we experience joy, and that joy we call love. Now, as to why 7 and not 6 days to creation: 7 is the number of completion, on the 7nth day God rested, resting is an action, Gods action symbolizes his finishing of his work, his closing the lid on the box he just made, it his act of seating himself upon his throne in readiness to rule his creation in the manner of a king, and it is this act that is commemorated in the Jewish Sabbath. - The Cult of Satanic Gnosis website apostaticinversion.wix/cultofsatanicgnosis
