A Grade v Brighton Day 1 - Report Thanks to Schultzy for the report, Dont think its going to be a best seller around the club though. Unley had its second straight game at its Kingswood home ground. Captain Ross Nicholson lost the toss and the opposition elected to bat in cool overcast conditions that should have suited the bowlers. However that certainly wasn’t the case and the Bright opening pair of Lewis Hill and David Maunder took the sword to the bowlers and at tea Brighton were 0 for 163 off 43 overs. After tea the batsman continued on their merry way with Leicester 2nd eleven player Hill putting on a power display. Brighton declared at 0 for 308, with Hill 228 not out off only 218 balls and Maunder not out 76. Not surprisingly none of the bowlers excelled although their efforts were not helped with 5 dropped catches. Unley had 12 overs to bat and struggled to 3 for 25 at the close of play. Unley have a huge task to try and make something of the game and the return to the top Grade of Adelaide Turf has shown just how tough the competition is.
