A Grape from Eshcol. No fear, but Strength in the LORD. Isaiah - TopicsExpress

A Grape from Eshcol. No fear, but Strength in the LORD. Isaiah 41:9 - 13; Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8.; Joshua 1:5 & 9; Psalm 27:1. “Fear thou not; for I AM with thee: Be not dismayed; for I AM thy God. I will strengthen thee; Yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.” .............. “For I, the Lord thy God, will hold thy right hand, Saying unto thee, ‘Fear not; I will help thee. . . Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by by name; thou art mine. . . . For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour.” When I first read those words in around March 1960 they changed my life for ever. I have never been the same since. One thing that happened, I had the same experience as David when he said “my sin is ever before me.” I immediately became aware of sin in my life and I knew that my only recourse was to go to God in repentance. The Lord God tells us firmly to be strong in faith. How can this be to those who do not believe? I do not believe that God here is talking to the general populous of the peoples of this world. He is speaking directly to those who have been sought out by Him, and given the will to believe that He is. Those that have sought Him have only done so by the direct movement of the Holy Spirit in their hearts, these are the elect who will be adopted into the family of God. It is He who has convicted them of their sin and their total hopelessness of ever being right with God. He has shown them that there is only one Way and one Door to the Throne of God: The Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of sinners. He alone is the Righteousness of God; He is the strong Righteous Right Hand of God. Having been brought to this light what a comfort it is to us who are so fickle, fearful and weak: “Fear thou not; for I AM with thee: Be not dismayed; for I AM thy God. I will strengthen thee; Yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.” Be strong in the Lord, it is this that will make us happy and courageous, and will enable us to overcome our sins that Satan tries to control us by, it will give us the strength to overcome difficulties and give us the assurance to look death in the face and look forward to that heavenly Canaan. If we are set on this course then we have no other that will give the strength and fortitude to finish it, we must trust firmly in the Lord to guide us and carry us safely through all the trials, difficulties and temptations which will be thrown at us by Satan and the world. There is nobody more than me that knows how weak and feeble we are, yet we must go on and fear nothing because God Himself has commanded us to trust in Him, and he has promised by His own Right Hand, (the Lord Jesus Christ) that He is with us always. We constantly fall, sin and become frightened, Satan constantly undermines the Word and promises of God, in order to take away the assurance that God is with us always. If we trust in Him with all our heart then there is nothing that can separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus; our safety is ensured in the promises of our God, who will keep us from harm in all things, our God who cannot lie.. Grant Lord that all whom Thou hast caused to turn to Thee in humility, trust, fear and love; fully believing that it is only by Thy grace and mercy we will be brought to that heavenly Canaan; and give us the courage and strength to continue. Fill our hearts with Thy love and child like fear that we may at the end enter into Thy kingdom through the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
