A HUGE THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERYONE THAT REPLIED TO MY POST ABOUT *VINNIE* yesterday !!!! Hugs to all of you :-) IM OVER WHELMED AND TOUCHED WITH ALL YOUR RESPONSE AND VERY GRATEFUL! VINNIE GOT ROAST BEEF FOR TREATS ! and for the next few days too...lol JUST GOT BACK FROM THE VETS AGAIN now...had to pay for my bill from yesterday. A few of you asked why my Vet is not doing surgery now.....I asked him about this and his response was he will not do surgery because Vinnie is too young (6 mon) and his plates are still growing....he would do the surgery if Vinnie was a year old..... We are thinking he has one tear.... not two (one on ea side) Yesterday Vet said Vinnie has two good things going for him....(for recovery) # 1 - he is young ......# 2 - he is under 20 kilo (smaller dog) so from these two good reasons Im praying he will recover 100 % and hopefully with no arthritis (cause that sets in quickly I was informed.) Im doing an ice-pack (corn bag cause it folds over the entire knee joint) three time a day (vet says) Now Im no expert by any means and we all learn as we go through the years with our dogs experiences ......but I trust this Vet on his Judgement call. Vet was extremely through ow with him in feeling his knee joint......careful / caring too. He also said to me that this type of injury ( tearing the ligament in the knee joint is very very common in dogs) especially in large breeds like Labs and so. He has done 100 surgeries on dogs for this identical injury.....my trust is in his expertise on this. Vinnie is not crated 24/ 7 ......I dont agree with that. He is loose most of the day in the house with me and his siblings / mom. He gets couch time watching a hockey game...(Canucks my team)....with me and movies/ programs. Im trying to be extremely careful that he does no jumping up / off of the furniture.....and that no one gets rough with him at all. Our bedroom doors are shut so he cant get in and jump up on the beds either. Doing my best to keep him and all on the calmer / quieter side....but its difficult with 6 mon olds. (5 of them) Last night was the first night he spent in his crate ever.....he was so so good about it. I cant tell he is in any pain what so ever....not showing any sings at all. They all live in the house with us... and THIS SAME (sort of) INJURY happened to my blue girl way way back in 1991 or so. Thinking back her tear was worse ....two tears not one. She had to have the surgery and a pin put in her knee and about the same age as Vinnie too. Her rear leg and judges side too and was in a brace for 4-6 wks. *Zoye* was her name and she recovered 100 % ...never a limp/arthritis. In 1994 ASSA Nats she placed 2 nd in the Open Blue class. What a thrill that was. JUST SAYING EVERYONE ......MY DEEPEST APPRECIATION TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORD AND PRAYERS FOR VINNIE :-) VINNIE; SAYS THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND PRAYERS TOO....HE IS COMFORTABLE AND HE HAS THE BEST TEMP TOO...LOVE MY BOY. WILL POST PICS WHEN I GET SOME BETTER ONES.......!
