A Happy Victory Day to everyone. This Victory Day is a momentous one as it is the first one after we have started receiving justice for the war crimes committed against our people during the very war in which we won this hard fought victory. I would like to take a moment to remember the 3 million of our people that were slaughtered by the Pakistani Army and their collaborators Jamaat-e-Islam in just 9 months of war. It was one of the worst genocides of the 20th century, perhaps even worse than the Holocaust. Ziaur Rahman brought back the Jamaatis that were responsible for the slaughter after they had fled Bangladesh. His widow Khaleda Zia made them Ministers in her cabinet and let them fly the very flag they had brutally slaughtered people to oppose. Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League pledged five years ago to try these war criminals. We have kept that promise. They will all get their just punishment. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu! সবাইকে বিজয় দিবসের শুভেচ্ছা। আজকের এই বিজয় দিবসটি বিশেষভাবে স্মরণীয় এজন্য যে, এটা হলো প্রথম বিজয় দিবস যখন আমরা বহু কষ্টে অর্জিত স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধের সময় আমাদের দেশের মানুষের উপর হওয়া যুদ্ধাপরাধের বিচার পেতে শুরু করেছি। আমি এই মহুর্তে আমার সেই ৩০ লক্ষ মানুষের কথা স্মরণ করতে চাই যাদের মাত্র ৯ মাসের যুদ্ধে নির্মমভাবে পাকিস্তানি সেনাবাহিনী এবং তাদের দোসর জামায়াতে ইসলামী হত্যা করেছিলো। বিংশ শতাব্দীর ইতিহাসে এটা শুধু নির্বিচারে হত্যাকান্ড নয় এটি জঘন্যতম গণহত্যাগুলোর একটি। জিয়াউর রহমান এই নৃশংস হত্যাকান্ডে জড়িত বাংলাদেশ থেকে পালিয়ে যাওয়া জামায়াতিদের পুনর্বাসিত করে। তার বিধবা স্ত্রী খালেদা জিয়া তার মন্ত্রিসভায় রাজাকারদের মন্ত্রী করে এবং শহীদের রক্তে অর্জিত পতাকা তাদের উড়াতে সুযোগ করে দেয়। শেখ হাসিনা এবং আওয়ামী লীগ পাঁচ বছর আগে এই যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার করতে অঙ্গীকার করেছিলো। আমরা কথা রেখেছি। তারা সবাই তাদের উপযুক্ত সাজা পাবেই। জয় বাংলা, জয় বঙ্গবন্ধু!
