A LETTER I RECEIVED FROM THE FOUNDER OF THE MISSIONARY SISTERS OF THE SACRED HEART AND MSH SISTERS ACADEMY. ANY HELP WILL MEAN A LOT. PLEASE PM ME IF YOU WILL SEND THEM SO I MAY LET THEM KNOW AND GIVE YOU THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. THANK YOU!!! To all our Brothers & Sisters in the Lord and Friends without Borders, PEACE, LOVE! We were visited by the strongest typhoon ever recorded in the history of man, ‘Yolanda’ last November 8, 2013. It is not for us to question ‘why’; it is not for us to complain; it is not for us to be bitter; it is not for us to get discouraged; it is not for us to stop our mission—apostolate in Samar & Leyte. It is for us to HOPE; it is for us to TRUST; it is for us to THANK; it is for us to RISE UP; it is for us to continue to LOVE; it is for us to SHARE! After the storm, I went around our Mission Houses in Guiuan (the place typhoon Yolanda had its first and strongest fury land fall) and Balangiga, both n Eastern Samar, Basey, Samar and Villa de San Juanico, Tacloban, Leyte. I saw the unbelievably terrible devastation Yolanda wrought. I continued to see devastated towns, barangays, sitios all in disarray, all in misery. I saw many places, survivors’ faces. Intellectually, I knew the situation, but emotionally, I seemed to be blank… not knowing what, where, how to start. Again, this is not for us to question ‘why’. I travelled on and saw countless volunteers… Americans, French, Bulgarians, Malaysians, Koreans, Italians, doctors from Belgium and many others all working around the clock unmindful of the inconveniences. There is a genuine SHOW OF CONCERN, CARE, UNDERSTANDING, SYMPATHY, SELF-SACRIFICE, KINDNESS...BROTHERHOOD OF NATIONS...SO MUCH LOVE! Many times I was silently moved to tears seeing our brother Filipinos from Luzon, Mindanao and even from other Visayan islands in buses with their goods to share with typhoon survivors. Out of the rubble, out of the ruins, out of the greatest devastation shown the edifying human traits. For us Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, who have eight Mission Houses in the REGION, are full of HOPE and TRUST that we would be able to recover and even make great improvements in our ruined structures because HE WILL SEND US INSTRUMENTS to make us do so. We are not asking for lump sums of big slices of aid but we will be very happy and contended, very GRATEFUL to take the morsels, the left overs in your big pockets of LOVE. Address your cheques to: MSH Outreached Missions Foundation, Inc., Metro Bank Peso Accnt. No. 390-3-39017891-4; Dollar Accnt. No. 390-2-39000243-7, Borongan Branch, tel. no. (055) 261-2927. May our Lord Who is never outdone in generosity reward you all a hundredfold. Sincerely yours in our Lord, MOTHER GEMMA A. SILVERO, MSH
