A Letter from Ringu Tulku Rinpoche Official Coordinator, Karmapa Visit to Europe We are all overwhelmed by the enthusiastic and joyful response to the first visit of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Thinley Dorje to Europe. All seats for the event of the Kamalashila Institute were sold out within 3 hours. We also feel very sad about those people who couldn’t get a ticket and therefore can’t join the events with His Holiness the Karmapa at the Kamalashila Institute. The Kamalashila Institute had prepared for years to set up a large tent for more than 2000 people in Langenfeld, a short walking distance from the institute. But this year road construction work interrupted the connection to the Nürburgring with its large parking spaces. This caused logistical problems which couldn’t be solved. The only available venue in the area was the Bitburg Event Hall of the Nürburgring, with 1500 seats. The bigger event hall of the Nürburgring had already been booked for another large event. To compensate for this shortage, the Berlin program was extended by two additional Dharma teachings. Those who could not get tickets for Kamalashila should try to come to Berlin, where we also have a concession rate for the hotel booking. We are studying whether we can get a bigger hall at the Berlin venue, and we will let you know as soon as possible if and when more tickets will be available.
