A MANUFACTURED CONSENT ON AGENDA ITEM #5g (01/05/15) The problem - TopicsExpress

A MANUFACTURED CONSENT ON AGENDA ITEM #5g (01/05/15) The problem I observe in Agenda item#5g (l1/05/15) is to question why San Bernardino has only two bids? Why? I am sure with good marketing skill we should have more bids and estimated cost. According to, there were ten people who walked through and only two people came forward. The speaker (Mickey Valdivia) is pushing for a yes vote. He said, If the council does not vote in favor the city should cut the loss. I am always very suspicious if something has to be forced into full speed. This does not look good, and the council should wait and secure more bids and reject the two sealed. For me, this is a special-interest deal, and the checkmate is to serve the two who won the contest. The City of San Bernardino cannot convince the public that it can only secure two sealed bids. The time to market the project was ample to secure more bids. Why suddenly do we need to secure the bid? For me, to insist that the project has to be voted on January 05, 2015 is a manufactured consent and unacceptable of a project ten years in the making.
