A MEETING OF PTI UK ACTIVISTS HELD YESTERDAY AT ILFORD A large gathering of PTI UK activists and those aspiring to contest the forthcoming elections was held yesterday at Dr. Afzals residence in Ilford under the chairmanship of Sahibzada Jahangir. Supporters and members from all over England had come to attend the meeting and to make their voices heard. The following resolutions were unanimously passed: 1. The participants were informed by Sahibzada Jahangir that serious complains were piling against the OIC from the majority of International Chapters around trhe world. Its senior officials were accused of adopting a permanent policy of divide & rule thus causing the party a great damage. In spite of various requests, OIC officials continued to behave in a very dictatorial way showing no respect to PTI overseas members who disagreed with them on issues. Therefore, accepting the popular demand, the chairman Imran Khan has appointed a commission to look into the affairs of OIC and until such time that the enqiury to REFORM THE OIC is complete and approved by Core Committee, the Intra Party Elections, both in the UK and worldwide has been indefinitely postponed. 2. In view of the above, those gathered at the meeting, whole hardheartedly welcomed the chairman Imran Khan decision. The decision by our chairman to postpone the Intra Party Elections, once again, reflect the great quality of our leader that what he desires for himself, he desires the same for the others. He knew under the present setup of OIC, overseas elections will not be just and fair. We salute our leader for hearing the voices of those majority of PTI supporters, who were ignored, insulted and sidelined by by the self-projected authoritarian officials of OIC, totally forgetting that PTI is a Awami party and not a personal estate. 3. The meeting also demanded that the new members should not be charged more than £10 towards the annual membership. This way the party membership can substantially boast and can and should run into thousands. At the moment it is a laughing stock as only couple of hundreds exist maximum in any region. Denmark President got elected by 40 members and in two places in UK it was even less. The officials of OIC and the last elected body MUST EXPLAIN the reasons for failure on their part for not having a substantial membership considering 90 - 95% of the Pakistani origin people in the UK loves Imran Khan. This was a major failure on the last elected body. 4. The meeting demanded that the PTI UK FINANCE BOARD should immediately be disbanded as continuous fingers and voices are been raised against their honest working. This may or may not be true, but, one thing is for sure that it is providing the party a very bad name when fingers start pointing out towards the people responsible for the funds of the party. A new board with new honest and fair people should be instituted. 5. It was also demanded that the chairman Imran Khan should immediately establish a new INDEPENDENT ELECTION BOARD who should be responsible to oversee the elections. There are many charges pending against the last election and those responsible for collecting the results. 6. Also Resolved that with the re-organization of OIC and since new faces are going to be inducted in the OIC, therefore, it is imperative that Overseas Pakistani participation is very essential and those who have the knowledge and the understanding of overseas Pakistani culture should be inducted in the OIC. 7. The meeting unanimously requested Amjad Khan to announce to stand for the London presidency and announce his panel for the elections. Amjad Khan thanked the gathering for their confidence in him and assured those present that he would seriously consider and announce his intentions soon. The meeting ended with delicious dinner through the courtesy of Kebabish Restraurants. -- Kind Regards Amjad Khan Chairman Insaf Group UK.
