A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR: My Dear Parishioners, Once - TopicsExpress

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR: My Dear Parishioners, Once again, this past Christmas brought home the great love and support that you all have for me and for our community of the Brothers of the Beloved Disciple. We all want to thank you for the many Christmas and New Years gifts received and all the cards sent. We are truly blest! As most of you know by now, my multiple myeloma cancer has returned and I am now on a new round of chemotherapy to try to get it back into remission. Tests show that fifty percent of my bone marrow is cancerous. This is the cause of most of my pain at this time. I am receiving twice weekly chemo infusions every week for three weeks and then one week off. This will continue until the cancer is again in remission or undetectable. I also will receive a bone strengthening agent, aredia, once a month. In order to proceed to another stem-cell transplant, the cancer must be in remission for more than two months. Second stem-cell transplants are not unusual with this cancer. If we are able to proceed with a second transplant, I would again require a two to three month recovery period afterward. So, one way or another this year will be a health challenge for me, but, hopefully, I am in this for the long haul! I continue to be deeply touched by all the prayers, love and support that are being offered me. Know that I am sustained by that love and prayer. As I have said from the beginning, I unite all my suffering to the cross of Christ knowing that he will use it as he knows best. I am consoled also by our Blessed Mothers closeness. Please be aware that I must stay away from anyone who is sick and that I will not be as available as before. I treasure your support and prayer. Sincerely Yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph Mary Marshall
