A MESSAGE FROM YOHAAN – AN OPEN LETTER To the students of Heriot Watt – Dubai Campus, With less than an hour to go before voting completely comes to a close, I thought it would be appropriate to address you all. What I am about to say is without any knowledge of what the result is and who may have the upper hand in these elections. These past three weeks have been the craziest three weeks of my entire life. I have enjoyed the privilege of getting to know you through addressing you in public settings, personal meetings and the interactions on my board. Learning what keeps you going as individuals and groups has been quite a task, but a task that I have enjoyed nonetheless. I have tried to not disappoint or hurt anyone in my conduct. However, if my team or I have done so in any way, I want to take this time to extend my personal apology to you. Therefore, as we approach the final hours of this years election, I seize this opportunity to ask you all not to carry any sour relationships from the past three weeks. I also take this time to emphasize the pleasure of contesting against my dear friend and fellow candidate, Olivia. When I heard that I was running against her, I was so happy for her and I knew that she would be a great contestant. She proved to be just that. Should she get the post, I am confident that she would lead you well. We both are genuinely concerned about your lives as students. However, if either of us get chosen we will need your full support to carry this out efficiently and it is my humble request that you continue to support us just as you have during this period. I want to also thank my team who helped me with my campaign, worked tirelessly and stood by me from day one. I also want to thank the current president, Toby for his constant guidance and the management for the opportunity to run as a candidate for this post. Whatever the outcome, I am thankful for this privilege and it has been an honor for me to run as a candidate for student presidency and I will cherish these three weeks forever. I have always sought to honor God in everything I do and will continue to do so in my service for you, should I win these elections. I wish you all the very best and once again, thank you for everything! Yours sincerely, Yohaan Samuel (Elections Candidate, 2014)
