Let not (one) people laugh at (another) people perchance they may be better than they, nor let women(laugh) at (other) women, perchance they may be better than they; and do not find fault with your own people nor call one another by nick names.”(Surah al-Hujurāt 49: 11)In islam exposing a believer, taunting, mocking, cheating, lying or any other act that hurts him is strictly forbidden“And helping the believers is ever incumbent on Us.”(Surah ar-Rūm 30: 47)Such a believer who hurt sentiments of one another, trick or played him, find his default or bad will have painful deathThe Messenger of Allah (S) says,“Indeed Allah has not permitted Paradise for any shameless abuser who has no qualms about saying anything or what is being said to him, because if investigation is conducted he shallbe found to be illegitimately born or Satan was involved inhis origin”.People asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, how can Shaitan get a sharein their birth?”He (S) replied,“Have you not read the words of Allah,‘(O Satan!) Share with them in wealth and children.”(Surah al-‘Isrā’, 17: 64)Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) says,“Cursing and abusing is from cruelty and cruelty is punishable by hell.”(al-Kāfi)Even making a person angry is like making the Lord angryThe companions were very keen to removeany bad feelings from the hearts of their brothers towards them. `Aa’ith Ibn `Amr Al-Muzani reported: “Abu Sufyaan passed by Salmaan, Suhayb and Bilaal and some other Companions (after the conquest of Makkah, when he was still a disbeliever). They saidto him: "The swords of Allaah didnot exact their due from the foes of Allaah?' Abu Bakr said to them: "Do you speak like this to the chief of the Quraysh and their master?' Then he went to the Prophet and related this to him. He said: "OAbu Bakr! Perhaps you have angered them.If so, you have angered your Lord”. Abu Bakr rushed back to them and said: "O my brothers! Did I offend you?' They replied:"No. May Allaah forgive you, brother”.[Muslim]One should not find faults in the believerImam Baqir (a.s.) and Imam Sadiq (a.s.) have said,“The deed that brings one very close to infidelity is that a person considers someone his brother in faith but he keeps track of his defects and misdeeds so that one day he can use them to criticise the believer.”(al-Kāfi Vol. 2 page 354)Abusing a believer or hurting him is a greatsin in Islam. Islam promotes respect and peaceThe Messenger of Allah (S) said,“Abusing a believer is like throwing oneselfinto destruction.”(al-Kāfi Vol. 2 page 359)Allah says in Quran“They who taunt those of the faithful who give their alms freely, and those who give to the extent of their earnings and scoff at them; Allah will pay them back their scoffings and they shall have a painful chastisement.”(Surah at-Tawba 9: 79)A hadith in this regard is as followsAbu Hurayrah who reported that the Prophet said: “You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I guide to that which would make you love one another? Spread greetings (Salaam) abundantly amongst yourselves” [Muslim]So one should not- Hurt a believer- Mock or abuse him- Find faults in him- Taunt him, give him inflict, should not even force him for something bad or evil- Trick, play or lie to him and control his tongue as to avoid hurting other- And should Love the believeMay Allah guide us.
