A MUST READ FOR NURSES: Hello. Im Penelope Endozo from the Philippine Daily Inquirer and a former communication coach of Niner. Through my dear friend Ervin, I hope I could look for potential interviewees here. Im currently writing an explanatory article on nurses who pay to serve as volunteers and how this practice has been dealt with by the private sector and government through the years. Since my stint at Niner, Ive heard stories of this practice from students and friends. Its like an open secret but I hope to document the reality behind these practices and really talk to nurses thelmselves on their experiences. In time, it appears that the practice has taken a legitimate form and nurses pay various amounts to serve as OJTs, trainees and volunteers.
