A Memory A Day: March 29, 2014: Tonsils and Adnoids: I have both my tonsils and adnoids removed when I was four years old. Through some oddity, my adnoids grew back.( Not exactly a medical term,) I had my adnoids removed again when I was six years old. There was a concern they might return again so an esteemed doctor at Cleveland Clinic Hospital had my mom take me for an evaluation for a procedure involving radiation. I did not like doctors.There must have been something about that doctors manner that I really did not like because as he approached me on the examining and told me to open my mouth, instead, I scooted off between the table and the wall. My poor mother was embarrassed Im sure as he yelled at her to take me and not come back until I learned how to behave. Or something to that effect. About thirty years later, I read a blurb in the newpaper that there was an alarming death rate among people who had been treated with radiation to the throat area during the late 1940s. That was ME. That jumping off of the table that day probably saved my life. God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform.
