A Message from the President Chamber Elections The Chamber will shortly be calling for nominations for two positions on the Chamber’s Executive Council. We have one vacancy and one current board member coming to the end of their term. We will be formally asking for nominations on July 25th with our AGM set down for September 25th. Conference on China I am pleased with how our Conference on China is coming together. The timing of the conference is particularly relevant with China having just become New Zealand’s number one trading partner. Asia will eventually boast six times as many middle income earners as the west and it is therefore critical as a region and as a country we are at the forefront of understanding how to service this burgeoning market. I strongly encourage you to invest half a day and join us to better understand how your business can make the most of this opportunity. Meeting with Marlborough Lines CEO Ken Forrest Marlborough Lines CEO Ken Forrest has kindly agreed to host a meeting of businesses who are high energy users to discuss lines charges and electricity cost management. We will shortly be inviting our larger energy consumers to be involved in this meeting. Business Excellence Awards The close off for Business Award entries is drawing closer with just over seven weeks until entries must be in by August 30th.
