A Message from the President The CUAAV was formed in 2009, with one of the prime objectives being assisting University of Colombo undergraduates undergoing financial hardships with scholarships to complete their courses. Assistance has also been given to some faculties of University of Colombo by way of providing textbooks to the faculty libraries as resources. Many graduates, who have received financial assistance, have gone on to achieve great success in their lives since leaving university. Since its humble beginnings not long ago, the CUAAV has gone from strength to strength. Steadily increasing membership has enabled it to hold fundraising activities like family dinner dances, hopper nights, picnics, kottu roti nights and talks on various interesting topics by renowned guest speakers, experts in their own field. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved to date, and this has only been made possible by hard-working Committees throughout the years with their dedication, enthusiasm and support, and increasing membership of the association. A lot more needs to be done for current students and past graduates who live in Australia and planning is in place to incorporate the following activities: - Enhanced scholarship programs for needy University of Colombo undergraduates - Family events - Assistance with job searches - Networking and socialising - Support network for newcomers This is all very exciting, but CUAAV needs your support to fulfil above goals. We therefore ask you to kindly consider helping a worthy cause by joining the CUAAV at your earliest convenience, preferably as a life member; the cost is a mere $100 which can be transferred to the association’s account: name-CUAAV, Bank-WESTPAC, BSB-033385, AC-659498. In this way, you will be giving back to University of Colombo and doing something worthwhile for the place that has perhaps moulded you into what you are today.
