A Page In My Journal, Aug. 8,14 I try with all my heart to no longer be on a need to know basis with God. This is when you have to know when and if God is working. I trust, that after reading my story youll understand why. I had been running all over town, paying bills the hard way. You know, when theres no time left to put them in the mail ! Totally tired of being broke, I sat at a red light thinking, Life does not seem to be getting better! To make matters worse, I turned to look at the car beside me and there sat a friend of a friend who seemed to have it all. I glared at her new Mercedes sports car and her shiny black hair, accessorized by trendy sun glasses. She looked both happy and rich! Like two peas in a pod. I hate peas! I thought. I sped home, drove up the driveway and entered the love-shack, sending Brittany and Hunter to their rooms so that I could privately throw myself across the couch and pout. As I lay there looking out our large picture glass window I noticed the two diseased pine trees that our insurance agent warned us about. He said that if we didnt get them cut down he would be sure to cancel our policy. (Obviously quoting the small print and NOT like a good neighbor !) The month, that he so generously gave us to comply, had dwindled down to a week. It would cost a zillion dollars. There, lying face up on the couch, I looked past those two dumb trees and hoarsely whispered , GOD, where is your power? Then it happened. I heard a crackling noise like the sound you hear sitting at a camp fire. It got louder and louder. I looked around the room but the noise was coming from outside. Finally, I spotted it! You couldnt miss it! One of the pine trees, that just a second ago had been mocking me, was breaking in half, falling towards the house, falling towards ME! Wide-eyed and literally paralyzed, all I could do was gaze in disbelief. Falling, falling! Boom! The tree lay like a tooth pick from one end of the yard to the other alongside the very window that my pea size head was staring out of! And to prove that Gods not dead; 😉 with the same level of intensity the second tree continued the same noises as if deciding it too would oblige to The Creators wishes. As soon as the snapping process was over it came crashing down right beside the first one ! Miraculously, not touching. (Like the pixie stix game that we play with our kids.) The sound of the weight hitting the earth was unforgettable and it all happened in less than a minute! Two, hundred foot trees down with out the help of man and not a scratch on me or the house ! I found myself whispering again but, now, in holy reverence ( if you know what I mean ), No more power, Lord. I get it. 🍑
