* A Poor Mans Guide to Paranormal Investigating:* Please feel free to add to the list. In todays economy and the cost of equipment can deter a person from trying their hand at being a Paranormal Investigator. Im going to share some old school techniques that can be used to replace some of the expensive equipment thats available today. Although they are cheep methods that can be used youll need two basic things. Some type of camera and device to record either still pics or video and audio on. Today, cell phones work great as the technology improves with better Mega pixel cameras and better audio quality. Remember if you cant capture it then personal experiences that you might have on an investigation are nothing more then a ghost story. Here are a few things that you can do to overcome any lack of equipment or manpower. 1. Talcum Powder For those of you who dont own multiple cameras that need to cover a large area you might be surprised that something as simple as talcum powder laid on the floor in a small area (dont spread it everywhere remember you need to clean it up) that will enable you to then go back to it and check to see if the powder has been disturbed in anyway. If it has been disturbed then you can use your one camera and focus time and energy in that location. 2. A Large Ball Using a large ball that isnt to light, or too heavy is used even by investigators who have all the toys even today. Investigating with a ball can invite interaction with a spirit, and or be used to try to capture its movement on video. 3. A Bell or Wind Chime Using a bell or wind chime works similar to the above mentioned techniques but is used to attempt to get an audio sound that can be heard by the investigators and of course captured on a recording device. 4. A Ping Pong Ball in a Mason Jar (Thanks +Jim Van Eeckhoutte) Jim Van Eeckhoutte shared this with us a while back. The video is on our Out Side The Box Category This like the other techniques is a really outstanding in my opinion and Ill tell you why. First by placing a ping pong ball in a closed mason jar it prevents the ping pong ball from moving due to many outside issues like a breeze, or a floor that might not be flat which prevents you from placing a ball on the floor. Yes, the ping pong ball under that condition might lean against the jar, but its not going to roll away giving a false impression that a spirit moved it. This can be used to have live communication such as asking the spirit/s to move the ping pong ball, capturing movement with a stationary camera etc. These are just a few techniques, and I invite others to add to this list I hope this is helpful.
