A Post by Ulster County District Attorney, Holley Carnright Kenneth Stahli MEMO Kenneth Stahli has been indicted for the murder of Mason D, a two and a half year old child. The allegations against Stahli are particularly troubling and, understandably, have given rise to deep seeded emotion. Mason has a younger brother, J. D. and both of J.D.’s parents have filed petitions in Family Court for custody. There are, I believe, other family members and other petitions also filed in Family Court concerning these matters. As an upstart of all of these issues, there is a group of people who refer to themselves as Mason’s Voice, who support Mason’s father and family and who have written to this website on a number of occasions calling for Mason’s mother to be charged with murder. It is not uncommon that facts that surround cases that invoke such strong emotions are exaggerated or simply fabricated which, in my judgment, is the case here. I have been called upon to set the record straight and to explain why I have not yet authorized the arrest of Mason’s mother. As I have stated, there is both an indictment and a Family Court proceeding surrounding these issues. Any comment made by me at this time might jeopardize both of those proceedings and therefore I will not be making any comment. In time, both of these matters, the indictment and the Family Court cases, will be resolved and when they are I will make myself available to answer the questions posted. Most of the comments made to this website are reasoned, responsible, and respectful. However, some have taken on the hue of hate mongering, mob driven hysteria and are intended to insight violence. Neither personally nor as the Ulster County District Attorney will I be a part of such inappropriate behavior and accordingly, I have taken the unfortunate step to block any further posts from Mason’s Voice, although in doing so I realize it also quiets the reasonable responses of people who have taken the time to attempt to address a situation they are so deeply troubled by.
