A Prayer for Our Brothers & Sisters in #Ferguson~ Divine Source of Peace and Justice, Please, we pray, Do not elude us Nor evade us in our urgent hour. Be with us, Creator of Hope and Tenderness, Source of the wind and mountains and rains and sun, Love of what is right and just and good and loving. Rise with us for compassion and humility and strength and the fierce core of dignity inside every soul who breathes and weep and cries out for right! Awaken us! Awaken us to our common bonds of human affection and compassion, bold conviction for what is right and never call upon us to back down in the face of the small minded or the weak spirited or the peddlers of pessimism and racism and cynicism and despair. We may be knocked down and flung to the streets, cast away, and discarded. We may cry from the pavement of desperation, hands clenched with blood of indignity and ugliness and unfairness and cruelty that should not be known in a civilized society. But know this: No matter the violence done to our sisters and our brothers of color, those who believe in the power of love, we who know that a brighter day will come, we who have faith in our young men and women who cry out for freedom and believe in the promise of our nation: WE. ALWAYS. RISE.
