A RE-OPEN LETTER TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR OLABISI ONABANJO UNIVERSITY Dear Sir, On behalf of all articulate, hardworking, intelligent, responsible and humble OOUites, we once again wish you a happy new year and compliments of the season. We pray that the almighty God who has been assisting you in directing the affairs of our great and dearly beloved ivory tower will not withdraw his support for you as your good work has really placed the name of the school in good places. As we continue to move forward in our academic activities and harvest, we wish again to call the attention of our darling, attentive and caring vice chancellor to some issues concerning the just concluded students union election(SUG) election which was held on the 7th of January 2014. We will like to bring your attention to some of the anomalies which the election entails; 1. The CGPA issue: We acknowledege your swift intervention towards the issue raised by OOUites asper the CGPA but we will love to bring your attention to some sensitive issues that transpire which we believe that you were unaware of, a Presidential aspirant with more than 3 carry over and with a CGPA less than 3.0 was not disqualified and also other post which CGPAshould be 2.5 was also not looked into and we believe that he who preaches equity must come with clean and open hands. We ensure that you help us look into the issue before the SHS election for when the foundation is weak, what can the righteous do? 2.Electoral Malpractice in Ibogun Campus; Sir, from time memorial IBOGUN Campus vote has never exceed 250 even last year when they have a presidential aspirant and all student were in school they never has 700+ vote, we will also love to inform you that the total number of registered student in IBOGUN Campus is 1050, considering the fact that the 100L who has the major population were unable to vote and also the 400 were on Industrial Training(IT) and the 500 were busy with IT. It becomes a miracle how they were able to cast 700+ vote even when majority of OOUites are still at home enjoying their New year break. In our desire to ensure that the image building and rebranding process that our dear university is going through is not stalled or distorted from the angle of the student’s union, for we are ready to comply with you to redeem the image of our great school because we will not allow some set of student to battered our image because of their personal interest. In order to nip this situation in the bud before it rear its head again, we are beseeching you our dear vice chancellor to please take a personal interest in ensuring that any candidate who does not meet the academic or any other requirement for the post he/she is vying for should we disqualified before the proper Swearing In. we are beseeching you sir on behalf of over 14,000 students who believes that justice must prevail. Knowing fully well that you are a caring and responsive father, we hope to see our views and recommendations acted upon as soon as possible, especially before the SHS kangaroo election which the Electoral Commision are planning of having cum the swearing In ceremony FOR WHERE CONSULTATION AND PARICIPATION ARE DENIED AND WHERE OPPRESSION AND SUPPRESSION ARE RIVE, CONFRONTATION BECOMES INEVITABLE. Thank you for taking your time to read through and act upon our request. Yours’ faithfully, Concerned OOUites.
