When life concretizes itself in the form of a human person, it becomes more mysterious. That is why philosophical anthropologists consider man to be enigmatic. It is only God and time that can unfold the mystery of man. God, because He is omniscient and time (though to a certain degree) because it controls the destiny of man. However, time through significant occasions like when a child is born, when he graduates, gets ordained, professed or married, dies, etc. unravel to a certain extent what man is and what he will become. To this, people give testimonies because they are witnesses. But time has also provided another beautiful occasion for man to have a better understanding of his mystery through a positive introspection and reflection on himself. Such occasions, we regard as ones birthday. Rev. Akpaaja, as you celebrate your birthday, do not consider it just as an occasion for celebration alone but also as an opportunity for self-examination and introspection. You must reflect on what you have been able to do for humanity all these years of your existence. What matters most is not what you plan to do but what you have done, not your goodwill but your good deeds, not you plans for the future but your actions in the present, not how much you have acquired but how much you have spent, not how much others have contributed to your success but how much you have contributed to the success of others, not the achievements you have made for yourself but the achievements you have made for God and humanity, not the good things you met but the good things you are leaving behind, not how much you are loved but how much you love. It is time to consider these realities and more. As time unfolds the mystery of your life, we sre able to understand a very little aspect of you as spectators. Personally, I have known you for more than three years now and in confidence and sincerity I see you as a good seminarian, a gentleman, a lover of peace, a humble, humorous and industrious man among other things. Your active involvement in the world of graphics speaks volume of your creative ingenuity. You are very appreciative of other peoples little and sometimes, insignificant efforts. This manifests the goodwill you have for others and I appreciate you for that. Therefore, as you celebrate your birthday today, be assured of my prayers and bear in mind these few points life has to tell you based on the value of the BIRTHDAY you celebrate: B- Bring before me your achievements for the past one year on your birthdays. I- In you God has deposited the raw materials to make the world a better place, use it well. R- Receive with joy whatever comes your way in life. T- Take yourself as nothing even when people think you are something. H- Hold on to God at all times for your survival depends solely on Him.
