A Rational Rant: I am not an anti-Semite if I criticize the actions of the country of Israel. I am not a racist if I question the motives of African-American leaders. I am not un-American if I argue against actions and positions of my government. I am not anti-god if I have issues with the activities and positions of different religions. I am not a homophobe if I feel uncomfortable seeing men romantically kissing in public. I am not a hetero-phobe if I feel uncomfortable seeing a man and a woman romantically kissing in public. I am not anti-cop if I have a problem with militarizing police forces. I am not a gun nut if I own a collection of guns. I am not out to destroy the second amendment if I am for limited gun control. I am not an idiot if I am a liberal. I am not an idiot if I am a conservative. I am not an idiot if I am a little of both. I am not evil if I dont believe in God. I am not delusional if I belong to a religion and love my religion’s God. I would like to think that I am mostly a rational person with my own set of personal prejudices and irrational thoughts that, at times and unfortunately, inform my thinking and with which I sometimes struggle. Now take a deep breath and acknowledge your own and know we all are spinning on this planet together and will all eventually die. Lets practice rationality and try and understand each other instead of endlessly overreacting to anything with which we disagree.
