A Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds and Heavy Rain remains in place for the Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast and Hunter districts. A complex low pressure system with a number of small centres embedded off New South Wales central coast is moving slowly north. Some of the lows are moving close to the coast bringing heavy rain and damaging winds. The whole system is expected to start moving away from the coast Tuesday morning. Winds are generating Dangerous surf conditions on the South, Illawarra, Sydney Metropolitan and Hunter coasts. Damaging winds around 65 km/h with peak gusts of 90 km/h are forecast for parts of the Metropolitan, Hunter, Illawarra and South Coast forecast districts. Winds in Sydney Metropolitan, in Illawarra and on South Coast are expected to ease later this afternoon or evening. Heavy rain and the chance of thunderstorms, which may lead to flash flooding, are forecast for the Illawarra and South Coast forecast districts. Rain is expected to ease later this or evening. Some of 24 hours rainfall from 9am Sunday: 197mm has been recorded in Porters Creek (inland from Ulladulla), 170mm in Mongarlowe (in South Coast near Braidwood). 24 Hours highest wind gusts: 120 km/h Wattamolla (Royal National Park), 94 km/h Molineaux Point (Sydney coast), 91 km/h Kiama. bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/severe.shtml
