A Si se Puede warrior Reports on Texas grass root politics, on this the 17th day of October, 2013; Battleground Texas Arturo -- The shutdown is over, no thanks to Texas senators. Last night, Ted Cruz and John Cornyn both voted against the bipartisan Senate compromise to end the budget crisis and reopen the government. Apparently defaulting on the nations debt while thousands of furloughed Texans continue to miss paychecks would have been just fine with them. If the extreme Texas GOP keeps on touching the stove like this, eventually theyre going to learn that its hot. Texas deserves better than the failed leadership were getting from the likes of Ted Cruz -- chip in $5 or more to join Battleground Texas in the effort to stop them. Senator Cruz, especially, put his presidential ambition ahead of doing whats right for Texans -- and hes already paying the price. Most of his GOP colleagues (outside of the fringe Tea Party faction) have turned against him. Hes being universally lampooned as the Sarah Palin of the Senate. And the Houston Chronicle pointed a finger at Cruz as part of the problem and yearned for the return of Kay Bailey Hutchison. Theres a reason Republicans like John Cornyn are actively campaigning against Battleground Texas as if we were on the ballot. Its because we are uniquely positioned to help defeat them. Were busy building the ground operation to throw these guys out and replace them with real leaders. Texas senators have lost all credibility -- and its time we did something about it.
