A Statistics Canada report released yesterday revealed 1 in 6 Canadians required mental healthcare in last year. According to the report’s author, “An estimated 600,000 had a perceived unmet mental healthcare need, and more than 1,000,000 had a partially met need." The demand for improved healthcare options in the treatment of mental health is great. National Service Dogs is the only accredited organization in Canada providing Skilled Companion Dogs for individuals living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and the only accredited organization in Ontario offering Canine Assisted Intervention.
