A Storm forms in Western Kansas overnight- Lets follow its track!!! This storm becomes STRONG, it actually achieves BOMBOGENESIS!!! By 6 am Monday morning the Low will be West of Buffalo, NY with a pressure of 972mb after forming in Western KS at 998mb Sunday morning... Lets look at the images by time frame. Once the Low pressure area moves East of you and you are on its West side, winds become North/Northwesterly. As the Low continues to strengthen, cool air really begins to filter into Kansas because of strong North winds it is creating. Remember, counterclockwise flow occurs with Low pressure. As this storm continues to move Northeast, it really begins to strengthen!! By 6am Monday morning the storm system, or area of Low pressure, is forecast to have strengthened all the way to 972 millibars!! That is a very deep low!! A storm that strengthens 24mb or more in 24 hours is called Bombogenesis!! A very interesting weather phenomenon that occurs between November and March. This storm will bring heavy rain to the Buffalo area on Monday complicating there already serious situation. Flooding and additional roof collapses will be likely for those poor folks. Closer to home- As the storm system moves by temperatures will begin to fall and North winds will be gusting to around 40-45mph- this will likely affect areas East of US281 as the Low strengthens as it moves East. The potential for rain showers East of a Great Bend to Pratt line look fairly decent- the further East you are the better chances you will have of measurable rainfall. If you have arthritis and auto-immune issues-- just a heads up. THANKSGIVING WEEK- EXPECT TEMPS IN THE 40s and Lows in the 20s- I think the Arctic air affects areas further to our East-we just get a glancing blow. Have questions- let us know.
