A Taste of Trafford helps support Trafford South Foodbank A Taste of Trafford in Altrincham is doing its bit to help the local community in Trafford by asking for donations from the public to support Trafford South Foodbank. As this year’s festival is taking on the theme of the Harvest Festival, this was seen as the perfect opportunity to help those in need. The foodbank allows those in need to access much needed food-stuff and aims to help people through short term crisis by providing three days’ worth of food for them and their families. People in need are referred to the foodbank via their GP and other health professionals, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, community workers and other similar agencies. Those using the foodbank are also provided with support and guidance to help them combat the problem long term. The public are being urged to help those in their community by donating non-perishable food such as sugar, tinned soup, fruit, meat and fish, teabags, instant coffee, pasta sauce, jam and biscuits. To get things off to a flying start, Marks and Spencer, Altrincham (pictured), has made a generous donation to this worthy cause. Donations will be accepted at a Taste of Trafford where the foodbank will have a stand, allowing the public to find out more about the valuable work that they do. Alternatively, they can also be taken to Altrincham Forward Town Centre Office, 12-14 Shaws Road from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 September between 10-4pm. Donations will then be distributed at foodbanks in Sale, Altrincham and Timperley. Leader of the Council, Cllr Matthew Colledge said: “The foodbank relies on the generosity of the public and has proved to be a lifeline to many local families since it opened. It’s great that a Taste of Trafford in Altrincham is supporting such a worthwhile initiative and assisting those during a time of need.” A Taste of Trafford takes place on Sunday 22 September 11am to 4pm at Altrincham Market, Greenwood Street.
