A Thought and a Prayer: This morning following two days of blasting high temperatures, there is the appearance of the possibility of rain. Just for the sky to be covered in these type of threatening clouds and the mid-summer air to be heavy with moisture is unusual for our climate. It is rare for us to have rain in July in Northern California. And yet all the remainder of the week following the cancer diagnosis, clouds laden with moisture moved in groups across the sky dropping showers in intermittent locations sporadically. Last Sunday following one of our daughters being Candys first body work and prayer client in her new Placerville location, the clouds unloaded on Placerville after our departure. My daughter and I were thrilled to encounter puddles on the freeway where rain had poured right before we drove through. Rain brings the water which enables life—plowing, planting, nurturing and growing of food which we need to survive is enabled by water. If we have nothing to drink—we die. This is true both spiritually and naturally. How lovely it would be if some rain did fall. (An unusual breeze is whispering through the trees as I write this.) Fires are raging throughout dry California. California once again is burning. Rain brings the water which could help quench the fires and stop their destruction. Rain is an outward sign of God’s sovereign spiritual as well as natural restoring power that we would be revived and nurtured to become God’s harvest through which He will spiritually feed others nurturing them for their eternal health. (Your kingdom come, Your will be done, Lord---on earth as in heaven, please.) Rain, rain, oh Holy Spirit come! Rain, rain, oh Holy Spirit put out the raging fires which bring destruction in this season of drought. Rain, rain, oh Holy Spirit bring the water, Your Living Water from the throne of God to restore. We are not worthy of Your restoration. Especially here in California, the masses have continued to follow the spirit of the world in the people who have been elected and the legislation which has been brought to pass as a result. As a population, we have not honored You or sought to put ourselves under Your sovereign care as Lord. And yet, You are sovereign and ever-faithful Surely, You will hear the remnant and answer. It is what You have always done and You do not change. Yes, Lord, we acknowledge there are more who You desire to come out of complacency and wake up from the glaze with which the constant onslaught of worldly wisdom masquerading as truth has blurred their vision. And yes, Lord, we are working on distributing Your message where You open doors, but Lord, surely You will hear Your remnant now and answer before all have turned to You, so by the coming of the increase of Your Living Water needed to restore us, it will also bring Your increased harvest (because of the increase of Your Presence). And so we do ask You to send some rain today, if just a few drops as a sign that You have not forgotten us and will indeed restore us, not only from this natural drought but from the larger spiritual one as well. If not, it does not change our trust in You. Your timing is perfect. Your Way beyond reproach. It is a Way in which we delight! Lord God, You are all that we want and all that we need. Lord, oh Faithful One, do hear our prayer and answer. In Jesus’ name, Amen
