A Time for Everything Acts 28:17a Three days later he called together the leaders of the Jews. Thoughts for Today: I think we all could agree that Paul was a man of action. He wasnt exactly known as someone who kicked back and took it easy. Instead he was a get it done -- now kind of guy. Yet upon arrival in Rome -- the ultimate goal he had strived toward -- he waited three days before calling together the leaders of the Jews. So why did he wait three days, and perhaps a better question, why would the Jewish leaders come at all? I think he was letting his presence build some curiosity and anticipation in the minds of the Jews. After all, they must be wondering who was commanding such attention that all of Rome would be abuzz. So after waiting three days -- when he called -- they came. Last spring my wife and daughter planted a package of tomato seeds. Every day my daughter Amanda would go out to the garden to look for evidence of newly sprouted plants. And each day she would be disappointed. But over time the seeds sprang to life. Eventually tiny green tendrils broke the surface of the earth and within a few months we regularly enjoyed eating tomatoes grown from our own garden. Sometimes it seems like things are so much more interesting, enjoyable, and even captivating when we are forced to be patient. When we dont get what we want right now. I think Paul applied this principle of patience and anticipation to his meeting with the leaders of the Jews in Rome. His timing or rather Gods timing was perfect. Questions to Ponder: Ecclesiastes 3:11, He [God] has made everything beautiful in its time. The entire passage of Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 is entitled A Time for Everything. I think sometimes we forget that God is in control and it is His timing we must wait upon. As parents we understand this concept when planting tomato seeds with our children -- a plants growth cant be rushed. But do we apply this same principle of patience when we plant a seed of...
