A UFO landed in Wisconsin, so I had to deploy my strike team to assault and capture it. The mission went down with no casualties, despite having activated 6 mutons and 3 floaters at once who were clustered together. The unfortunate part about the operation was that minor injuries were sustained by 4 of my best, one by gunfire and three by a well placed grenade that caught all of them by the edge of the blast radius when it was put in the centre. All four of those operatives were put in the infirmary for three days of medical treatment. Fine, fine. 3 days. Its not like anything bad would happen in three days, right? Wrong! Two days later, the aliens start a terror operation in Perth, Australia, so the strike team has to be deployed while four of my best operatives, including Shadow, a French sniper by the name of Amelie Durand, are in the medical centre. Knowing the map that we are deployed to, her Squadsight and Double Tap abilities would have been invaluable. But, I am stuck with a team that is 50% untested blood in a situation that I wouldnt ideally place them in, and I cant exactly wait for them to be cleared for combat. I probably would have sent one, maybe two in anyway, but three being untested, including one in a skillset that I find to be important (although admittedly not completely essential). Hopefully Colonel OCeallaigh, Major Diaz, and Sergeant Dust, can pull the new blood together for a successful rescue. Luckily, as far as the game is concerned, only 1 civilian out of the 18 on the map needs to be rescued for the mission to be considered successful, although the more the better. So, while I plan to save as many as possible, I can be secure in that if the fighting is too much for the untrained Squaddies, then I can find a defendable spot and just prioritise the survival of the squad and the elimination of the aliens over the survival of the civilians.
