A War of Words “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” Ephesians 4:29 (KJV) There is a war that we engage in that grieves the heart of God and stops His flow of blessings in our lives. It is a war of words. When someone hurts us, we fire away at each other with the missile of our words and destroy lives. We load up our tongue like a pistol and unleash a world of pain. We completely destroy relationships, marriages, careers, and ourselves. Maybe someone sent you an angry text, left you a hurtful voice mail message on your phone, sent you an offensive Facebook message, or said something to your face that caused your blood pressure to rise. Now you want to release wrath and engage in a mindless war of words. However, please understand that no one ever wins. Both participants ultimately become casualties of war. How does God expect us to respond? We are expected to respond in love and kindness. He expects us to overcome evil with good and trust me I know it takes every ounce of Holy Spirit power to accomplish that. However, no matter how challenged you feel in your love walk, God has pour His love in your heart. No matter how kindness deficient you feel, spending time meditating on the Word can cause God’s nature to rub off on you. You can do it. As you honor God by refusing to engage in a war of words, He will surely honor you. Prayer: Father, forgive me for every hurtful and deadly word that I have released out of my mouth. I draw a line in the sand and I choose to not engage in a war of words. I receive Your strength and grace to stay in an attitude of love and kindness. I humble myself and choose Your way, not my own. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. SO TRUE!!!!!!
