A Yiddish proverb says, “A half truth is a whole lie.” When - TopicsExpress

A Yiddish proverb says, “A half truth is a whole lie.” When someone tells us to “Go inside” to find God it is totally believable. It prompts many to do just that, only to become depressed and even more upset when what they discover is only their own bitterness, resentment, inability to forgive others and even self-loathing. This is why many people are unable to meditate as Step 11 proposes and must resort to mantras, yoga, readings or even positive affirmations instead. Unless one is willing to see the truth of themselves without resentment, as revealed through insight then they must medicate - or find mock meditation techniques that emphasize “blissfulness” and pleasurable sensations. That is not because they are evil people. It is because they have failed to recognize the other half of the same truth; that before God can be found inside we first must let Him flow into us - followed by doing whatever is necessary to maintain that grace; to stay awakened. That is included in the spiritual awakening process and spiritual maintenance tools proposed in the Twelve Steps, by Jesus Christ and by anyone carrying the complete message of truth. As Bill Wilson noted about his recovered and powerful friend Ebby Thacher, Had this power originated in him? Obviously it had not. There had been no more power in him than there was in me at the minute; and this was none at all.
