A bigger problem of why we Indians-may have been in this situation - TopicsExpress

A bigger problem of why we Indians-may have been in this situation is the lack of understanding of our own religion and our own scriptures and the knowledge Hinduism has provided. If you notice- a priest does the rituals and the mantras . However no one knows what he is talking about. Apart from what is said to do.!! There is -A head institution for Christianity which outlines some policies to the other religious (Christian)institutions in their country and so is for Islam. But can any one tell me where is SUCH INSTITUTION for Hinduism. The answer is simple- it is non existing and even if one exists it is non functioning. Also in a church or a mosque they have a regular scheduled teaching in their respective institutions. Why dont we have it like that to learn about our own religion in our own temples?? The Irony is we dont have any scheduled teaching of Hinduism and its VAST scriptures- as a part to our regular visits to our temples. That we go there to pray - But learn LITTLE about it and its scriptures. What could this have had the effect on us- we are left with world class scriptures , philosophy and knowledge which is beyond our imagination and an extraordinary assets- which tell about life -and the way of life- which were written thousands of years ago- our Vedas and so on and so forth- However most of us -Hardly know anything about it!!!.. Which is sadly true. And hence an uneducated person (lack of knowledge)can do nothing---but get carried away by worldly things and gets succumbed to whoever says / whatever they say. If you read MK Gandhis autobiography- He states educate the people and they can decide what is right- And a good leader should educate and let the people decide what to do. Hence we are lacking the education of our own Writings. I wondered -why we dont have HEAD-institutions which can give some guidelines to all the temples and other Hindu institutions to follow to educate Hindus. and I got a good answer from my learned father in law- We had Adi Shankaracharya -who has established such institutions through out India to educate md propagate about Hinduism . Unfortunately the great thought of that great man has been forgotten by the people who are in those institutions now-As I see little what he had ASPIRED to do to educate people about Hinduism. And so we are now in this situation. Knowledge grows when propagated!!Educated man can make wise decisions...And I want to let my Indian friends know that Education means not just going to college or becoming an engineer or doctor or lawyer. Any subject which you dont have enough knowledge means - you are simply -UNEDUCATED - in that particular subject. Which may be driving or stitching or or cooking or weaving or the Context of our conversation today -OUR RELIGION. Thank u.
